The first time we heard from Louise, she called on the phone (GASP!). Few inquiries still come in via telephone these days. We all tend to lean towards the convenience and quick access of email. Not that we don’t like virtual communication, but the telephone call from Louise was refreshing. We spoke on the phone for about 45 minutes. Little of our conversation pertained to wedding photography. We hit it off right away, seeming to have some life experiences in common. It turned out that she has actually lived within miles of where Jonathon and I lived in Hollywood, only a few years earlier. Crazy! Anyway, we already told you about our Starbucks meeting with Louise and her “Candyman” when we blogged about their Leiper’s Fork engagement Session. Now, I want to tell you about their journey to the altar.
Soon after our meeting, Louise shared with me that she was going to start a blog about her journey in wedding planning. This way, she could plan her wedding and vent to the cyberworld all the trials and tribulations that come with a DIY wedding. She didn’t really care if anyone was going to read it, really it was just going to be her outlet. Why not, she said? To support her, I tried to answer some blogger questions and we created our first “button” for her to proudly display on her site, but most of our support came from being dedicated readers. So much so, that she would shout out “Hi, Sharon!) in posts thinking no one else was reading. Very quickly, other readers joined in as she found her voice (funny and sarcasic as heck!). In her blog, real and to the point, she has shared everything from what brides deal with (guest list drama and napkin folds) to her unusual and work related trips to China and India in the midst of planning her wedding. She even turned those blogs into something that brides could relate to. She was able to find many great things for her wedding overseas. Her chargers, jewelry and even her shoes! Her Blog is a must read: The Thirty Something Bride.
For now, I will continue to refer to the groom as “The Candyman” because that is how Louise has referred to him all on her blog all along. We will let them decide if his real identity will ever be revealed. During all of this, Candyman, dutifully stuffed envelopes, ate cookie and cake samples (baked by his soon to be bride) and put up with (her words) wedding planning meltdowns. He is a cut up, you guys. He even guest blogged while she was on her overseas adventures and had JC and I rolling. i would say he is like a big brother to me and that’s only because he is a great guy and he is 8 ft tall. (I hope you dont mind. I have 2 big brothers, but I think they would love you too.)
As you can imagine, these two, funny, caring people, were made for each other. They say they planned their wedding and hired their vendors from love. Stating that they hired us because while loving the work, they really just felt comfortable and it felt right to them. Every detail was done with love and we think it shows. What do you think?

Her Dads reaction to seeing her for the first time was priceless. Did I mention this is usually my favorite part of the day?
